Replacement Side Mirrors or Wing Mirrors
60
Side mirrors on cars generally were first put on by the manufacturers in about 1912. In some cases these mirrors were referred to as wing mirrors or also side view mirrors. Often they were attached to the actual fender but more often today they are attached to the door housing. They certainly have evolved since 1912 as they now collapse or fold or even are hard wired to the vehicle which makes replacement side mirrors far more expensive than there were ever a decade ago.
Types of Side Mirrors
On modern cars today and also on modern trucks side view mirrors have come a long way baby. They are not just a simple chrome or stainless steel post with chrome or stainless steel backed mirror sitting out there in the slip stream with replacement side mirrors costing very little money. Or perhaps they even had a screw type mirror post that you could simply twist off the actual mirror and re-screw on a new one when the original one became toast. Today they may be wired to the vehicle so that you can adjust them electronically without opening the window even. This of course will cost you more money at the auto parts store.
Where to Find Exterior Mirrors
Exterior mirrors are considered an auto accessory on many online websites so when you go looking for them that is the category you will look in for them. On other online websites they may be listed under the type of vehicle such as RV or Truck or ATV but some for reason they aren’t just listed as mirrors. When you do an online search for them replacement side mirrors pop up more often than rear view mirrors which will sometimes show up in electronic components because they can be Bluetooth or even a camera too.
