If you are visiting Poland you would not need a Polish passport nor would you be required to have Polish citizenship but you would be required to carry and present one from the country where you are a resident. Poland is officially called the Republic of Poland and the name comes from the Polish word Pola which means plains or even fields. The area of Poland comprises over 120,000 square miles so you have a lot of area to explore. The currency of Poland is the Zioty which equals 0.3649 US dollars. The word means golden. The country of Poland receives 14 million foreign tourists a year.
Favorite Polish Cities
Even some of the people with Polish citizenship or ciudadania polaca who hold a Polish passport or pasaporte polaco come to visit from the various areas of Poland. Some of the favorite cities that tourists visit when they come to Poland, which is the fourteenth most visited country in the world, are Warsaw or Warsawa, which is the capital of Poland, Kraboto, Gelansk, Wroclaw, Poznan, Lublin and Torun. The country sits on part of the Baltic Sea with has some wonderful seaside cities and offers a lot of recreation choices. It has mountains like the Tatra Mountains with skiing and mountaineering.
Tatra Mountains
This mountain range was formed at the same time as the Alps which can be seen by the shape of the mountain peaks. Some of the tops of the peaks are covered in snow all year round. He Tetra National Park has lovely lakes for wandering and wonderful waterfalls to enjoy plus spectacular scenery. One of the holiday resorts is Zakopane which has year round visitors and you don’t need Polish citizenship or a Polish passport to enjoy them. You can enjoy the mountain trails in the summer months enjoying 4 to 6 hour trail hikes. In the winter it offers wonderful Alpine skiing.
Krakow
Krakow is one of the oldest cities in Poland and it goes back to the 7th century. It is on the World Heritage List and sits on the Vistula River. It is one of the old royal cities and is the second largest city in Poland with lots of culture on offer. Old Town is a favorite place to visit without even having a Polish passport or having Polish citizenship where you can see many different styles of architecture like Renaissance, Baroque and Gothic. It also has the former Wawel Castle if you enjoy castles and the largest market square in Europe.
Wieliczka Salt Mine
Miners created some wonders here like a rock salt chandelier. Plan to visit even if you don’t hold pasaporte polaca but one from any other country is accepted. People of Polish citizenship or with ciudadania polaca also enjoy visiting here. Perhaps the miners who carved out the Cathedral of rock salt didn’t have a Polish passport but they did create something wonderful. It is also a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site. There are older salt carvings and salt carvings by contemporary artists too.
